We are thrilled to announce the launch of Quidnet Ventures Fund II – The Discovery Fund – aimed at discovering and fuelling the next generation of groundbreaking Kiwi deeptech founders.
Building on Proven Success
Since launching our inaugural fund in 2021, Quidnet Ventures has established itself as a premier early-stage venture capital firm focused exclusively on New Zealand’s most promising deeptech startups. With Fund I tracking for top-quartile performance, we’ve demonstrated our ability to identify, support, and scale New Zealand’s most innovative companies.
Our first fund validated our core thesis: New Zealand produces world-class technological innovation and entrepreneurial talent that, with the right capital and strategic support, can compete and win on the global stage. And we have learned a lot from our experience with Fund I.
Introducing The Discovery Fund
Building on this momentum, we’re proud to announce the launch of The Discovery Fund, with a target size of NZ$25 million. This new fund will continue our mission of discovering exceptional Kiwi deeptech founders in their earliest stages and providing the capital, connections, and guidance needed to accelerate their growth and expansion into global markets.
The Discovery Fund will maintain our focused investment strategy while expanding our capacity to support New Zealand’s growing ecosystem of deeptech innovation. We believe the next decade will see an unprecedented wave of technological breakthroughs emerging from New Zealand, and The Discovery Fund positions us to be the catalyst that transforms these innovations into world-changing companies.
What We’re Looking For
The Discovery Fund will target pre-seed and seed-stage deeptech companies across sectors including:
Climate tech and sustainable energy solutions
Advanced materials and manufacturing
AI and machine learning applications
Biotech and life sciences
Agritech and food innovation
Quantum computing and advanced computing architectures
We are seeking founders who combine technical brilliance with entrepreneurial vision – teams building defensible technology that solves meaningful global problems.
Looking Ahead: The Ambition Fund
As we launch The Discovery Fund, we’re also exploring the creation of a U.S.-domiciled Ambition Fund designed to support the next phase of growth for our most promising portfolio companies. The Ambition Fund will focus on Series A investments for Kiwi startups expanding into the U.S. market, providing continuity of capital and strategic support during this critical scaling phase.
This complementary fund structure will create a powerful funding pathway for New Zealand’s most ambitious founders, from initial concept through global expansion.
